Stress Awareness Month: DMC Tips to Cope with Stress
April marks Stress Awareness Month.
According to the Mental Health Foundation, 60% of young people (aged 18 to 24) have felt so stressed by the pressure to succeed that they have felt overwhelmed or unable to cope.
Today, we’re sharing some of our tips for learning how to better manage stress and anxiety.
- Talk to Someone: Try to speak to a friend or a loved-one about your problems and thoughts. They might help you see things from a different prospective and give you a more positive outlook.
- Go Outside: If you are feeling overwhelmed just take a break, go outside and take a walk. Walking gives you time to think, as well as time to get away from stressors.
- Exercise: Staying physically active will lower your blood pressure and will help relieve stress. Aim for 30 minutes of moderate activity, five days a week.
- Relax and Rest: Try to find time during the day to relax and collect your thoughts. Also, it’s important to establish a healthy sleep routine to prevent anxiety.
- Write it Down: Sometimes writing down your feelings can help you process them and make you feel more collected.
- Do Something you Enjoy: Having a busy life means that sometimes we forget about our passions and hobbies. Try to find time to do what you love or pick up a new hobby that can help you relieve stress.
